About Joi:

Joi is a mother of five, a seasoned health professional, and a multifaceted woman on a mission to celebrate the beauty in every human’s journey. After obtaining her nursing assistant certification at McKenzie Career Center, she took a deeper dive into health education at the University of Indianapolis, where she studied nursing. Joi found her calling to support families during their most sacred moments—pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Driven by her commitment to holistic care, she became a certified Bosom Buddy for the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition and embarked on a path as a birth doula. Yet, she felt called to serve her community through midwifery further. Guided by passion, Joi pursued training at the National College of Midwifery and apprenticed with Home4Birth and Sol Midwifery Services in her hometown of Indianapolis, IN. Today, as a dedicated midwife at Sol Midwifery Services, Vice President of the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition, and Vice President of the Indiana Midwives Association, she continues to advocate for equitable maternity care for all birthing persons.

Midwifery is her love letter to Black Women!
